2025

28TH JANUARY 2025

Bernard came along from The Whale & Dolphin Conservation Charity in Chippenham.  Unfortunately I could not attend but understand that everybody really enjoyed his talk and learnt a lot about Whales and Dolphins.

25TH FEBRUARY 2025

Pete Shaw came along again to give us a talk about his travels to Mongolia.  What a fascinating place, it was extremely interesting and his pictures really told the story of the country.  It has lots of mountains, which I did not expect.  Thank you Pete for another interesting talk and pictures.

25TH MARCH 2025

The local Scrap Store came along again and we all had a go at making flowers!  She also talked about the kind of things Scrap Store had and gave us ideas for making things out of scrap.  Some of us have since visited the store and the café of course!

22ND APRIL 2025

We had our annual Resolutions Meeting to decide what resolutions the WI should pursue and give our verdict to our representative for this area.  Afterwards we had a cream tea/coffee, which was a real treat.

27TH MAY 2025

It was our Annual Meeting where we voted Maggie in as our President and Carole and Roz left the Committee, thank you to them both for their contribution to Lockside WI.  Afterwards we had People’s Bingo and another handbag game, which we all enjoyed.

24TH JUNE 2025

Valerie Parkinson came to Lockside WI to talk about her life and adventures in the Himalayas.  What a life she has had, with more to come.  She has trekked up Everest and nearly made it to the very top (she unfortunately got frost bite and was unable to do the last bit) after several set backs along the way including one of the group having their eyeballs frozen and another have thrombosis and having to be airlifted off the mountain.  What an achievement.  She lived in Nepal for many years and still goes back trekking each year.  It puts us all to shame. Well done Valerie.
